From the very beginning of the world people have wondered who made the world and universe. Adam and Eve knew how the world was made because they knew God. At first, Adam and Eve talked directly with God in the Garden. But later God did not talk directly to people. God used special men and women to tell people about Him.
Many years ago, when some people forgot about God, they came up with all sorts of stories of how the world was made. Then when people began to write, people wrote ideas down or drew pictures of their ideas of God. But just because there are books men and women wrote about God, that did does not mean what they wrote was true. Because of those books and writings some people believe wrong ideas about the true God.
Many ideas about God and the world that were written years ago, we know today are just not true, even though they were written in books. For example, years ago many people believed that the world was flat and that the sun moved from east to west across the earth. Today we know from science that the earth is not flat, but is round. And the earth moves around the sun. Many people also believed the world and universe just happened. But just because some people thought that and wrote that down, did not make it true.
The Bible tells us all that we need to know about God. The Bible tells us what God is like. God talks to us through His Word, the Bible. And we know what God is like because we have the Bible that He wrote that tells us the truth about Him.
Moses was a leader of God’s people and he talked directly with God and God talked with Him. God told Moses to write down how God wanted people to live. It was God that told Moses the Ten Commandments and other laws. Moses wrote them down and we still have them today in the Bible.
But even though God told Moses and other prophets and leaders to write down how God wanted people to live and to know Him and love Him, some people did not want to listen to God or follow God. So, some people began to make up their own ideas about God and how to live. Today, we have many religions where people make up a god and say you have to do good deeds to please their god.
But that is not what the true God of the Bible says. The God of the Bible says that we please Him when we accept His gift of forgiveness of our sin through His Son, Jesus. He says we should do good things and be of help to other people. But no one can ever do enough good things to please God. We can only be saved by God’s Son, Jesus.
